IPAM has the objective to promote the recognition of indigenous peoples and lands as an asset for the country’s development and for the climate balance in public policies, guaranteeing their rights and, as a consequence, the protection of forest and water resources in the Amazon. Technical note from civil society organizations rejecting Bill No. 8,107/2017
Several environmental organizations released a joint technical note about the impacts of the new proposal that aims to reduce protection of the Jamanxim National Forest. The measure will benefit land grabbers and may double deforestation in the region.
