Several environmental organizations released a joint technical note about the impacts of the new proposal that aims to reduce protection of the Jamanxim National Forest. The measure will benefit land grabbers and may double deforestation in the region.

If the Proposed Constitutional Amendment 215 of 2000 (PEC 215/00), currently under discussion in the Brazilian National Congress, is approved, it can cause serious legal insecurity for Indigenous Lands.
