Apresentação feita durante workshop para jornalistas “O Código Florestal e o alcance do desmatamento ilegal zero”, promovido pela ANDI e a Conservação Internacional Brasil, em 29 e 30 de março de 2016, em Brasília. Na ocasião, foram apresentados os cálculos do IPAM sobre a necessidade de se obter desmatamento zero – legal e ilegal – no Brasil para o cumprimento das metas nacionais de redução de emissão de gases estufa até 2030.

The study-cases reported here may call attention for the velocity we are losing our forests in a planetary scale and for inestimable impact that will have in human life quality, in wild life, in water, soil and air and in the world economy. To keep it short, it won’t be a surprise if the cost to fix the losses would overcome the investments we have done to achieve the present unsustainable development.
