Terra FC is a campaign that mobilizes clubs, players and federations in favor of sustainability and climate change awareness. Created by the British NGO Count Us In, the initiative aims to encourage all those involved in sport to communicate with their fans about the issue, as well as contributing to the inclusion of more sustainable practices in clubs and stadiums.

“As one of the major players affected by a changing climate and, at the same time, with great scope to promote cultural transformations, we believe that soccer should take part in this debate,” explains Laura Moraes, director of the campaign in Brazil.

Among the actions developed is the Parade for the Climate, an unprecedented initiative that institutes two hydration breaks during matches, regardless of the weather conditions. The moment is used to raise public awareness of the climate emergency through videos.

During the Parazão, a local championship in the state of Pará held in 2026, at least one match per round implemented the Climate Break. The action was shown not only to the fans in attendance, but also to viewers following the matches on TV, radio or YouTube. On social media, Terra Futebol Clube, the Para Football Federation and clubs in the state shared information about the issue.

“It was an unprecedented and super cool partnership with the clubs and convincing the players not just to talk about the game, but about how the climate emergency impacts on health, reflecting on the quality of the game and its very existence,” says Moraes.

According to Moraes, the Climate Parade is expected to take place at all Brazilian Championship matches by 2026: more than 1,000 opportunities to address the issue in a non-technical way, using the language of sport.

“We don’t want soccer to ‘solve’ climate change issues, but it can make a difference in the process. To use a parable, it would be like replacing a player at the end of a match. The new player comes in with energy, a whole tactical scheme and ends up making a difference: he goes out there, scores two goals or makes it easier for them to happen, changing the outcome of the game,” she adds.

Terra FC can be followed on Instagram and TikTok via the profile @terrafutebolclube.
